Remembering our founder late lamented Dr. Philipose Mar Theophilus

Born on 9 May 1911 late lamented Dr. Philipose Mar Theophilus, the Founder of St. Thomas Public School at Khadki in 1989, graduated from Cochin Maharaja’s College, post-graduated from St. Augustine of Canterbury in England, T.H.M in Cardiff University, UK, and D.D from Harvard University, Chicago, USA.

He started his career playing an instrumental role in the Holy service of God, His people and society at large. His desire to do greatest good to greatest number of people is seen in his handiwork which is cherished and remembered.

He knew no rest and worked relentlessly to build institutions and orphanages from which many hundreds have got their livelihood and many thousands have got educated. He worked his way up to success with determination and hard work. He never shied away from work and challenges and had a never-say-die attitude.

As Jyotirao Phule struggled to set up a school in Pune for girls education, our founder late lamented Dr. Philipose Mar Theophilus a great visionary dreamt to help the common mass of people and equip them for the struggle in life by setting up an educational institution in 1989. The foundation stone was laid by his holy hands and this institution, at Kirkee, which commenced with a Pre-School in the unfinished Church building, is now a model School being cited by the Education Department both for the high standard of education and for maintenance of School records. This is a school which is placed in A1 Grade consistently by the Department of Education – a full –fledged Secondary School.

One is always sad and disappointed to lose ones elders no matter what the age as we humans always believe that they will always be there for us no matter their age. But when the call comes from the Almighty, one must go and we can only help in the soul`s journey, with prayer. He left his earthly duties on 28th September 1997.
